Course Description |
Advanced level course in English contract improving reading comprehension and translation skills for business purposes. |

Course Objective (Goal) |
Obtain reading and comprehension skills of various types of English written contracts used for business (16 types), and conversion of it into Japanese and writing skills of Japanese written business contracts. |
Learning Outcome |
Translate accurately and comprehensively English intermediate level contracts of ordinary length (7 to 9 pages) used in business into Japanese by understanding and becoming familiar with legal terminology, word and idiom usage, writing style, grammar, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of such intermediate level contracts written in both English and Japanese. Translate at a speed of 250 words per hour (source language). |

Exercise Workbook
Includes 32 types of English contracts and corresponding Japanese translation examples from ‘Sales Order Confirmation’ to ‘Patent License Agreement’. One contract is 10-20 pages on average with one exercise per lecture.
