Course Objective (Goal) |
Obtain reading and comprehension skills of various types of English written contracts which are high level in contents and lengthy. Also, be able to effectively translate these documents into Japanese and have the writing skills to write similar Japanese written contracts at the same level of complexity and length. |
Learning Outcome |
Translate accurately and comprehensively English complex, high level, and lengthy (more than 15 pages) contracts drafted in professional law firms or corporate law departments into Japanese by understanding and becoming familiar with legal terminology, word and idiom usage, writing style, grammar, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of such complex, high level, and lengthy contracts written in both English and Japanese. Translate at a speed of 250 words per hour (source language). |

Exercise Workbook
Includes 32 types of English contracts and corresponding Japanese translation examples from ‘Sales Purchase Agreement' to ‘Stock Purchase Agreement’. One contract is 20 pages on average with a minimum of one exercise per lecture. Also includes course guide.
